I still have some belts to tighten but I was pretty impressed with part cooling and overhangs - they did really good.

Lots of random screws, wiring and swear words.īenchy prints in just under an hour and looks pretty good. I printed everything on my Monoprice in PETG - took a bit of tweaking to make that happen but in the end the results were great and I got a big working printer out of it. Quite a bit of the prep time was printing the plastics to start my build. Overall, the build took me about a month. Learning this was all the reason I decided to build this - I now know enough to fix it.

It was all new to me - I fumbled a lot with automatic leveling with 2 Z screws and had things backward, mirrored and finally set straight.

The Duet has wifi, 32 bit CPU, great web interface and easy to manage firmware - with amazing support online. The Titan Aero does great as a direct drive and the Duet with its TMC driers is ultraquiet and an amazing controller. My goal was to be able to print soft and hard filaments and print fast and quiet. Many people will purchase their 3030/2020 from Misumi because it's top notch stuff but I invested more in the controller and hotend. All of the odd and end BOM materials I sourced on since I didn't want to wait 6 weeks for shipping from Aliexpress - but you can probably get a slightly better deal if you want to wait. I decided I wanted the 300x300x400 kit for taller build volume and so I purchased the zyltech frame starter kit and then bought a Duet Wifi and Titan Aero from the amazing people at filastruder. Tempted to go Ender3 or MK3s I decided I'm a glutton for punishment and thought I'd try to build #2 - a Hypercube Evo (HEVO) which is a CoreXY designed by: SCOTT_3D įacebook Group (just have to google it, spam bot deleted my post the first time i posted this :(įor a "clone" build you can do a 300x300x300 for around $450 bucks - cheaper if you have your own parts. Flash forward a few years and an open box Monoprice MP Select V2 is $99 bucks shipped and I figured I had nothing to lose and I got a printer that worked out of the box and did incredibly well for being so cheap. A long time ago I started with a kit printer I don't even remember the brand of but it never worked and I left the hobby mad.
